Two sided Air BNB patio redo in Austin
I was asked to redo both sides of an Air BNB in South Austin. Both sides has been neglected and were quite unattractive and unsafe. On side 1 (the left side) I removed many large slate pieces; smoothed the area flat; added a base layer of sand, then 64 paving tiles. Once finished I added black Japanese river stones, outdoor lanterns and a few plants as well as new lighting in the driveway. For side 2 I removed all the misc. rocks; leveled the soil and added sand; then created a patio with a mix of 3 paving materials, and added a French drain as a solution to the excess run-off that had been flooding the yard and creating problems. Finally I added a bench, some lighting, and polished rocks to the drain as a to add some color and harm to the new ‘creek’.

Pacha café in Austin
The outside areas of Pacha Cafe in Austin Texas had been long neglected and I was asked to clean up and pretty it up. I cut back an enormous dead Lantana bush; removed weeds and rearranged rocks; then added Native plants that love full sun and over time become drought tolerant, like Mexican Firebush, Russian Sage, Echinacea and Jerusalem Sage. A Pacha Cafe regular named Barry was so pleased he custom created this amazing railing out of ‘garden tools’ in my honor! I was very touched!

Teaching my Houseplant Care class at Redbarn Nursery in Austin 2018 and 2019
I was lucky enough while working at Redbarn Garden Center in Austin Texas to teach a houseplant care class, something I’d wanted to do for some time. I hated heating so many folks say “I kill all my houseplants!” So with the great assistance from my co-worker Dana I covered many Do’s and Don’ts of plant care, addressed many myths that I felt needed correcting, and had a table of ‘hospital’ plants to go over their issues. Then we had a fun Q&A session. Teaching plant care is definitely a passion for me!
